Love at first sight

She had a shiny dark completion and curves in all the right spots. Her name was Suzi.

I was between 8-10 years old when my Grandpa Johnny introduced me to his 1980 Suzuki GS450L. He took me for a ride through Snow Canyon in Southern Utah and I was hooked.

This picture is of Johnny and my Grandma Gwen on Suzi. My Grandma told me this picture was the only time she ever sat on the bike. :)

Grandpa Johnny and Grandma Gwen

Motorcycles have played a major role in my life.

They provide freedom. They connect us to the world in ways I believe everyone needs to experience. You become part of the environment and all the elements. The wind in your face, the dryness of the desert and dampness of the ocean. The smell of creosote or Ponderosa Pines. The crispness of a frosty mountain pass morning. Not mention the taste of bugs between your teeth.

They also provide resilience, because it’s just a ride until something unplanned turns it into an Adventure.

You’re welcome to hear more about how I came to have such a ridiculous love for motorcycles here.

In August 2026, I’ll leave Utah on a trip through Mexico, Central and South America to Ushuaia, Argentina. Many people have asked me to keep them in the loop on this ride and to send pictures, so this blog is my attempt to do that.

If you choose to explore or follow this blog, I’ll take you with me to some amazing places on two wheels. The yellow dots in the pictures below are places I’ve ridden to and the green are places I’m on my way to.

Any yellow dot either has a story behind it or it was a location worth remembering.

I’ve posted some stories from over the last 30+ years. Even though the experiences are backdated, feel free to comment or engage.

I love hearing your stories and about our shared love for exploring.

Even if you just ride or travel vicariously through other people, please jump in on the conversation.

Thank you for being here!
